Department of Design Engineering

The subject of "Mechanical Design and Theory" in the Department of Design and Engineering of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (CMEE) was approved as the doctorate degree point in 1998 and established postdoctoral station, and was named the key subject of Jiangsu Province in 2006. The experimental teaching center of mechanical engineering which is composed of the laboratory of mechanical principle, mechanical design and engineering drawing, was named the national experimental teaching demonstration center in 2008. 

The department now have 15 professors, 28 associate professors and 24 young lecturers. In undergraduate teaching, it mainly undertakes the basic courses of mechanical principle, mechanical design, engineering drawing and so on; In the teaching of graduate students, there are courses such as mechanical engineering finite element method, tribology, computer graphics, digital product design, ergonomics and so on. In recent years, the Department of Design Engineering has made remarkable achievements in talent training: won the National Excellent Teaching Achievement Awards and Jiangsu excellent teacher Achievement Awards many times.

In terms of scientific research, we have undertaken more than 50 projects including the national natural science foundation of China, the "863" projects, the national defense and aviation advance research and model development projects, various provincial and ministerial level funds and enterprise projects in the past five years. We have won many national and provincial awards and published more than 200 academic papers in core publications, 12 publications and textbooks, 4 national invention patents.
